SUMMARY AS PASSED:
Special elections; vacancies in constitutional offices. Requires an immediate special election to fill a vacancy in a constitutional office and eliminates the appointment of an interim constitutional officer by the judges of the circuit court of the county or city except in unusual circumstances. The constitutional offices are the clerk of the circuit court, attorney for the Commonwealth, sheriff, commissioner of the revenue, and treasurer. This bill takes effect October 1, 2000.
