SUMMARY AS PASSED:
Harassment by computer; crime. Creates a crime of harassment by computer. The bill would make it a Class 1 misdemeanor to use a computer or computer network to communicate obscene, vulgar, profane, lewd, lascivious, or indecent language, or to make any suggestion or proposal of an obscene nature or threaten any illegal or immoral act with intent to coerce, intimidate, or harass.
SUMMARY AS PASSED HOUSE:
Harassment by computer; crime. Creates a crime of harassment by computer. The bill would make it a Class 1 misdemeanor to use a computer or computer network to communicate obscene, vulgar, profane, lewd, lascivious, or indecent language, or to make any suggestion or proposal of an obscene nature or threaten any illegal or immoral act with intent to coerce, intimidate, or harass. The bill also makes it a crime to communicate personal information to anyone with the intent to coerce, intimidate, or harass. For second and subsequent convictions, the bill would impose a mandatory, minimum sentence of 90 days' confinement, none of which may be suspended in whole or in part.
