SUMMARY AS PASSED: (all summaries)
Summons for unlawful detainer. Provides that if the summons for unlawful detainer is filed to terminate a tenancy pursuant the Virginia Residential Landlord Tenant Act, the initial hearing on such summons by a judge of a general district court shall occur within 21 calendar days of filing, unless a judge is not available to hold court, in which case, the initial hearing shall be held as soon as practicable. Provides that the summons shall be served at least 10 days before the return date rather than five as under current law.
