005762568WHEREAS, Dois I. Rosser, Jr., has been a prominent business and civic leader on the Virginia Peninsula for more than a half-century; and
WHEREAS, Dois I. Rosser, Jr., chairman of The Pomoco Group of new automobile dealerships since 1955, has been nominated for the Year 2000 Time Magazine Quality Dealer Award, which honors the outstanding automobile dealer in the United States based on professional and civic achievement; and
WHEREAS, Dois I. Rosser, Jr.’s, many civic undertakings include leadership roles in such diverse organizations as the Virginia Peninsula Economic Development Corporation, the United Way, the YMCA, the City of Hampton Trade and Industrial Commission, the Hampton University Board of Trustees, and the Union Seminary Advisory Board; and
WHEREAS, Dois I. Rosser, Jr.’s, other civic awards include the Boy Scouts of America “Good Scout Award” and the Religious Heritage of America “Churchman of the Year,” and he is founding sponsor of the eminently successful “Youth Challenge” drug and alcohol rehabilitation center for young people; and
WHEREAS, Dois I. Rosser, Jr., long recognized by his peers as an outstanding business and automobile dealer, is a former winner of the Peninsula Retail Merchant’s Association’s “Outstanding Businessmen’s Award,” a recipient of Chrysler Corporation’s Pacesetter Award and Award of Excellence, and past Chairman of the Chrysler National Dealer Council and Lincoln-Mercury Regional Dealer Council; and
WHEREAS, it is fitting that Dois I. Rosser, Jr., be recognized for his many outstanding contributions and achievements; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, by the Senate of Virginia, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly commend Dois I. Rosser, Jr., for his tireless work and leadership in the business world, and for his inestimable efforts to benefit mankind; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Dois I. Rosser, Jr., as a tribute to him and his accomplishments.
