2000 SESSION
WHEREAS, Joyce Wright, a resident of Chesapeake who has been bowling since 1964, won the Virginia Bowling Queens Tournament in Chesapeake in August of 1999; and
WHEREAS, a seamstress who bowls at AMF Chesapeake, AMF Norfolk, and Classic Lanes in Newport News, Joyce Wright surprised herself in the Bowling Queens Tournament, starting with a four-game 684 series, which left her in fourth place; and
WHEREAS, Joyce Wright followed that up with a four-game series of 760 and an amazing 859 to win the tournament by 107 pins; and
WHEREAS, a member since the early 1980s of the Virginia Bowling Queens, a club for women bowlers with an average of 165 or better, Joyce Wright’s extra practice this year paid off with a championship performance, which capped her best year in more than 30 years of competitive bowling; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly commend Joyce Wright for her outstanding bowling success in 1999; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Joyce Wright as an expression of the General Assembly’s congratulations on her excellent performance.
