WHEREAS, Senator Stanley C. Walker recently completed a distinguished term of service on the Joint Commission on Health Care; and

WHEREAS, the Joint Commission on Health Care was created by the 1992 Session of the General Assembly to continue the work of the Commission on Health Care for All Virginians; and

WHEREAS, the purpose of the Joint Commission on Health Care is to study, report, and make recommendations on all areas of health care provision, regulation, insurance, liability, licensing, and delivery of health care services; and

WHEREAS, the Joint Commission on Health Care works to ensure that the most cost-effective and efficacious means of delivery of health care services are adopted so that the greatest number of Virginians receive quality health care; and

WHEREAS, the Joint Commission on Health Care encourages the development of uniform policies and services to ensure the availability of high quality, affordable, and accessible health services; and

WHEREAS, Senator Walker was the founding chairman of the Joint Commission on Health Care, served two terms as chairman, and served on the Long-Term Care Subcommittee; and

WHEREAS, Senator Walker provided unparalleled leadership in improving access to quality health care services for all Virginians during his term of service on the Joint Commission on Health Care; and

WHEREAS, Senator Walker has been a guiding force in all of the accomplishments of the Joint Commission on Health Care, including increasing access to care for the indigent and uninsured, improving the availability and affordability of health insurance, enhancing the quality of health care services, and improving long-term care and aging services; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the 2000 Session of the Virginia General Assembly commend the vision, dedication and commitment to improving the health status of all Virginians exhibited by Senator Stanley C. Walker; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Senator Stanley C. Walker as an expression of the General Assembly's sincere appreciation for his outstanding service and accomplishments.
