WHEREAS, on July 1, 1999, Dr. Maxine B. Singleton was appointed Dean of Instruction and Student Development at Paul D. Camp Community College in Franklin; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Singleton earned her undergraduate degree from Virginia Union University, her master’s degree from Norfolk State University, and her doctorate in higher education administration from The College of William and Mary; and

WHEREAS, before her appointment as academic dean at Paul D. Camp Community College, Dr. Singleton served as chairwoman of the social science division at the Virginia Beach campus of Tidewater Community College; and

WHEREAS, known for her people-oriented approach to leadership, Dr. Singleton exhibits a personal style that encourages the best efforts of her colleagues; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Singleton plans to enlist the support of the community in her efforts to help Paul D. Camp Community College students achieve their educational and career goals; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly commend Dr. Maxine B. Singleton on her outstanding career in higher education; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Dr. Maxine B. Singleton as an expression of the General Assembly’s congratulations on her appointment as academic dean at Paul D. Camp Community College.
