WHEREAS, the 1999 boys’ soccer team from Clarke County High School won the Virginia High School League Group A state soccer championship; and
WHEREAS, led by Coach Francie Ball, the Clarke soccer team was co-champion of the Shenandoah District, then won the Region B competition and the state title; and
WHEREAS, in district competition, Clarke County was led by District Player of the Year Chris Ball and All-District players Scot Duncan, Bob Silver, Kyle Kramerage, and Jim Batka; and
WHEREAS, in regional competition, Chris Ball was Region B Player of the Year, and Scot Duncan and Kyle Kramerage were also named to first-team All Region B squad; and
WHEREAS, State Player of the Year Chris Ball and first-team All State Player Scot Duncan led Clarke County to its victory in the Group A state championships; and
WHEREAS, the rest of the Clarke County soccer team, Dylan Ayres, Alejandro Pineda, James Ferguson, Phillip Haney, Garrett Walker, Jonnie Hornbaker, Cyran Liggins, Matt Norton, Brian Holmes, Sean Munson, Jose Zaganelli, Kenny Gustin, Seth Winter, and Alex Brown, contributed throughout the season to the success of the team; and
WHEREAS, Shenandoah District, Region B, and State Coach of the Year Francie Ball was ably assisted by assistant coaches Mike Ball and Shaun Broy; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly commend and congratulate the Clarke County High School boys’ soccer team on its outstanding 1999 season; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Head Coach Francie Ball as an expression of the General Assembly’s admiration for the state championship performance of the Clarke County High School boys’ soccer team.
