Commending the Clarke County High School boys’ cross country team.

WHEREAS, the 1999 boys’ cross country team from Clarke County High School won the Virginia High School League Group A state cross country championship; and

WHEREAS, led by Coach Nancy Specht, the Clarke runners won the Bull Run District title and finished in the runner-up position in the Region B competition; and

WHEREAS, in the Group A state competition, Clarke County was led by Tim Tomblin, who finished fifth, Dustin Sweeney, who finished 11th, and Grayson Sponseller, who finished 15th; and

WHEREAS, Dustin Sweeney also finished first in both the district and regional meets, closely followed by Tim Tomblin, who took second in both meets, and Grayson Sponseller, who finished fourth in the district and sixth in the region; and

WHEREAS, the rest of the Clarke County cross country squad, Eric Vorisek, Franz Szymanski, Matt Tomblin, Keith Lichliter, Charles Bowles, Matt Morrison, and Anton Shrout, contributed throughout the season to the success of the team; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly commend and congratulate the Clarke County High School boys’ cross country team on its outstanding 1999 season; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Head Coach Nancy Specht as an expression of the General Assembly’s admiration for the state championship performance of the Clarke County High School boys’ cross country team.
