WHEREAS, Larry Allen Stone, a Petty Officer 2nd Class with the United States Navy, died on September 3, 1999, in a training accident at Fort Chaffee, Arkansas; and
WHEREAS, Larry Stone was a member of the United States Navy Seal Team II, Little Creek Amphibious Base, and was a lead communications instructor for the team; and
WHEREAS, a native of Norfolk, Virginia, Larry Stone graduated from Granby High School where he was an all-district baseball player and an all-district swim team member; and
WHEREAS, Larry Stone matriculated at Virginia Military Institute as a history major before enlisting in the Navy; and
WHEREAS, during boot camp, Larry Stone was chosen as his unit's Outstanding Athlete and later, as a yeoman, his skill with communications equipment earned him a job instructing new Seals; and
WHEREAS, Larry Allen Stone was a selfless and accomplished Seal and died in service to his country; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly mourn the untimely death of Larry Allen Stone; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Edward Carl Stone III and Syble Butler Stone, the parents of Larry Allen Stone, in tribute to his memory.
