SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 10
Celebrating the life of Mary Alice Hill.

WHEREAS, Mary Alice Hill of Chesapeake, a devoted member of the Herald of His Coming Church of God in Christ, died on October 18, 1999, at the age of 95; and

WHEREAS, a native of Berkley, Virginia, Mary Alice Hill was the matriarch of a large and devoted family consisting of 11 children and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; and

WHEREAS, Mary Alice Hill was a 60-year member of the Herald of His Coming Church of God in Christ in Norfolk and was the president of the Mother Board; and

WHEREAS, the oldest resident of her community, Mary Alice Hill was a devout Christian woman who touched and improved many lives during her long and productive life; and

WHEREAS, a well-respected citizen and a leader in her church, Mary Alice Hill will be sorely missed by her large and loving family, by the parishioners of the Herald of His Coming Church of God in Christ, and by her many friends in the Chesapeake and Norfolk communities; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly mourn the passing of a fine Virginian, Mary Alice Hill; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Mary Alice Hill as an expression of the General Assembly’s respect for her memory.
