SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 104
Commending the Central High School boys’ tennis team.

Agreed to by the House of Delegates, February 4, 2000

WHEREAS, the boys’ tennis team from Central High School of Woodstock won the 1999 Virginia High School League state tennis championship; and

WHEREAS, the Central High School boys’ tennis team completed the 1999 regular season with a record of 11-1 and advanced to the Region B championship; and

WHEREAS, in the Region B tournament, Central defeated strong teams from Wilson Memorial High School and George Mason High School to advance to the state championship tournament; and

WHEREAS, Central defeated J. J. Kelly High School, 8-1, then defeated defending state champion Radford High School, 6-3, to win the state championship; and

WHEREAS, senior Trip French, juniors Adam Beasley, Brian Cline, Ryan Rutz, and David Swecker, sophomores Eric Bradley, J. R. Decarlo, Hubbel French, and Mark Ryman, and freshman Jeffrey Ryman all contributed to Central’s outstanding success; and

WHEREAS, Shenandoah District champion David Swecker teamed with Brian Cline to capture the Shenandoah District and Region B doubles championships; and

WHEREAS, Head Coach Gary Rutz molded the considerable individual talents of the Central High School tennis players into a winning team; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly commend the Central High School boys’ tennis team on its triumphant 1999 season; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Head Coach Gary Rutz in honor of the championship performance of the Central High School boys’ tennis team.
