2000 SESSION
WHEREAS, the girls’ doubles tennis team from Central High School of Woodstock won the 1999 Virginia High School League state tennis championship; and
WHEREAS, the Shenandoah District singles champion, Emily French, teamed with Sarah Bouchard to capture the Shenandoah District and Region B doubles championships; and
WHEREAS, in the Region B tournament, Central’s doubles team defeated strong doubles teams from Buffalo Gap High School and George Mason High School to advance to the state championships; and
WHEREAS, the competition was more intense at the state level, as the team of Emily French and Sarah Bouchard defeated the team from Mathews High School, 7-6 (7-2), 7-5, and the team from Bland High School, 3-6, 6-2, 7-5; and
WHEREAS, Head Coach Debbie Swecker molded the considerable individual tennis talents of Emily French and Sarah Bouchard into a winning combination; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly commend the Central High School girls’ doubles team, Emily French and Sarah Bouchard, on a triumphant 1999 season; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare copies of this resolution for presentation to Emily French, Sarah Bouchard, and Head Coach Debbie Swecker in honor of the championship performance of the Central High School girls’ doubles tennis team.
