Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. That the Code of Virginia is amended by adding a section numbered 18.2-107.1 as follows:

§ 18.2-107.1. Fraudulently acquiring a confidential record.

Any person who, by impersonating another person, or by any other fraud, acquires a record not open to the public or a confidential record, or a part thereof, including a microphotographic or electronic copy, is guilty of a Class 1 misdemeanor.
