Commending Brian Dudley.

WHEREAS, Brian Dudley, the Assistant Fire Chief of the Hurt Volunteer Fire Department, rescued three firemen who had been trapped in a burning building on October 9, 1999; and

WHEREAS, in one case Brian Dudley rescued the fireman, whose legs had been pinned by burning wreckage, by literally pulling the fireman from his boots; and

WHEREAS, a member of the Hurt Volunteer Fire Department for 15 years, this is not the first case in which Brian Dudley has demonstrated remarkable courage in attempting rescues; and

WHEREAS, Brian Dudley has served his community by conducting in-house fire training and was instrumental in starting the Fire Safety Program to teach adults and children about fire prevention and safety; and

WHEREAS, in recognition of his courage and dedication, Brian Dudley was elected Fire Chief for the year 2000; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly commend Brian Dudley for his heroic actions and for his continuing service to the Hurt and Gretna areas; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Brian Dudley in recognition of his outstanding actions in saving the lives of three firefighters and of his continuing service to the community.
