WHEREAS, Delegate John J. Davies, III served with distinction on the Joint Commission on Health Care; and

WHEREAS, the Joint Commission on Health Care was created by the 1992 Session of the General Assembly to continue the work of the Commission on Health Care for All Virginians; and

WHEREAS, the purpose of the Joint Commission on Health Care is to study, report, and make recommendations on all areas of health care provision, regulation, insurance, liability, licensing, and delivery of health care services; and

WHEREAS, the Joint Commission on Health Care works to ensure that the most cost-effective and efficacious means of delivery of health care services are adopted so that the greatest number of Virginians receive quality health care; and

WHEREAS, the Joint Commission on Health Care encourages the development of uniform policies and services to ensure the availability of high quality, affordable, and accessible health services; and

WHEREAS, Delegate Davies effectively represented the health care interests of the rural areas of the Commonwealth throughout his term on the Joint Commission on Health Care; and

WHEREAS, Delegate Davies was active in addressing issues of importance to Virginia's aging community; and was instrumental in improving access to dental care across the Commonwealth; and

WHEREAS, Delegate Davies served on the Joint Commission on Health Care's Long-Term Care Subcommittee and the Subcommittee Studying the Therapeutic Interchange of Chemically Dissimilar Drugs; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the 2000 Session of the General Assembly commend the vision, dedication, and commitment to improving the health status of all Virginians exhibited by Delegate John J. Davies, III; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Delegate John J. Davies, III as an expression of the General Assembly's sincere appreciation for his outstanding service and accomplishments.
