WHEREAS, Global Nomads International is a nonprofit, voluntary, nongovernmental organization associated with the United Nations; and

WHEREAS, Global Nomads International members are persons of any age or nationality who have lived abroad before adulthood because of a parent’s occupation; and

WHEREAS, the sons and daughters of diplomats, missionaries, educators, scholars, business people, and military and governmental agency personnel, Global Nomads International members often develop a global perspective and intercultural skills at a young age; and

WHEREAS, Global Nomads International provides its members with opportunities to meet other global nomads to share experiences and insights; and

WHEREAS, Global Nomads International sponsors conferences, workshops, presentations, publications, and area- and university-based clubs and groups; and

WHEREAS, Global Nomads International encourages its members to use their valuable experiences for the benefit of their communities, the nation, and the world at large; and

WHEREAS, Global Nomads International will hold its 2000 Conference in Virginia Beach from October 13th to 15th, 2000; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby designate October 14, 2000, as Global Nomads International Day in the Commonwealth; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Catherine M. Kehrig, chair of the board of directors of Global Nomads International, as an expression of the General Assembly’s appreciation and welcome to the Commonwealth.
