On the death of Maureen Adams Carlson.

WHEREAS, Maureen Adams Carlson of Sterling, Virginia, born October 17, 1944, in Northern Ireland, died on December 7, 1999; and

WHEREAS, a devoted member of Faith Bible Church and later of Christian Fellowship Church, Maureen Adams Carlson combined her spiritual dedication and grace to witness in the Coral Ridge program; and

WHEREAS, a dedicated mother of two and a loving wife for 28 years, Maureen Adams Carlson worked in the Awana program teaching scripture to children; and

WHEREAS, successfully completing her Associate of Science degree in interior design at Northern Virginia Community College, Maureen Adams Carlson graduated at the top of her class with a 4.0 grade point average; and

WHEREAS, a naturalized American citizen, Maureen Adams Carlson became a political activist in numerous pro-family campaigns and lobbied on Capitol Hill for such organizations as Concerned Women for America; and

WHEREAS, deeply involved in civic affairs, Maureen Adams Carlson worked tirelessly for the rights of women and the unborn and served on the Loudoun County Commission on Women; and

WHEREAS, Maureen Adams Carlson wanted it to be known that it is not what you can do for God but what He can do through you; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly note with great sadness the death of Maureen Adams Carlson and honor her for her many spiritual and civic contributions to the community and the Commonwealth; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to James L. Carlson, Jr., widower of Maureen Adams Carlson, as an expression of the General Assembly’s condolences to her family and her many friends.
