WHEREAS, Maureen Adams Carlson of Sterling died on December 7, 1999; and
WHEREAS, Maureen Adams Carlson was born on October 17, 1944, in Northern Ireland; and
WHEREAS, Maureen Adams Carlson, a devoted member of Faith Bible Church and later of Christian Fellowship Church, combined her spiritual dedication and grace to witness in the Coral Ridge program; and
WHEREAS, Maureen Adams Carlson, a dedicated mother of two and a loving wife for 28 years, worked in the Awana program to teach children scripture; and
WHEREAS, Maureen Adams Carlson successfully completed her Associate of Science degree in interior design at Northern Virginia Community College and graduated at the top of her class with a 4.0 grade point average; and
WHEREAS, Maureen Adams Carlson, a naturalized American citizen, became a political activist in numerous pro-family campaigns and lobbied on Capitol Hill for such organizations as Concerned Women for America; and
WHEREAS, Maureen Adams Carlson was deeply involved in civic affairs, working tirelessly for the rights of women and the unborn and serving on the Loudoun County Commission on Women; and
WHEREAS, Maureen Adams Carlson wanted it to be known that it is not what you can do for God but what He can do through you; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly honor the spiritual, civic, and community contributions of Maureen Adams Carlson and mourn her death; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to James L. Carlson, Jr., widower of Maureen Adams Carlson, as an expression of the General Assembly’s condolences to her family and her many friends.
