WHEREAS, Christine Capaci received her bachelor of science and her master of science degrees from Old Dominion University; and

WHEREAS, Christine Capaci has taught with distinction in the Norfolk public schools since 1992; and

WHEREAS, while at Northside Middle School, Christine Capaci has been a leader in interdisciplinary education; and

WHEREAS, Christine Capaci has been intimately involved in the development of the Maritime Pathways Project at Northside Middle School in Norfolk, where the Walker-Heilig Aqua Lab is located; and

WHEREAS, a co-teacher in the Pennywinkle Project, Christine Capaci led her students through literary and scientific exploration to develop Pennywinkle, a student-produced oral history of the Chesapeake Bay islands; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly commend and congratulate Christine Capaci on her role in the production of Pennywinkle, an outstanding student project; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Christine Capaci as an expression of the General Assembly’s gratitude for her dedication to the education of the young people of Norfolk.
