WHEREAS, in May of 1925, a group of local business and professional leaders founded the Fairfax County Chamber of Commerce; and
WHEREAS, the Fairfax Chamber's founders envisioned an organization that would bring economic prosperity to a county well positioned within sight of our nation's capitol; and
WHEREAS, during the past 75 years, while Fairfax County has emerged as a high-tech haven and the Internet capital, the Fairfax County Chamber of Commerce has retained its original mission; and
WHEREAS, as a new century dawns, the Fairfax County Chamber of Commerce has become what its founders hoped for it to be: "the Voice of Business in Northern Virginia"; and
WHEREAS, as the Fairfax County Chamber of Commerce celebrates the 75th anniversary of its founding, the organization is poised to continue its mission into the 21st century; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly commend the Fairfax County Chamber of Commerce for its success in becoming the voice of business in Northern Virginia and congratulate the Chamber on its 75th anniversary; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the Fairfax County Chamber of Commerce as an expression of the General Assembly's best wishes for the next 75 years of continuous service to the businesses of Northern Virginia.
