002661972WHEREAS, Dianne Ricks has organized the Little Creek Cup Regatta and the Southern Chesapeake Poker Run to benefit the American Cancer Society for three consecutive years; and
WHEREAS, a resident of the Hampton Roads area and president of the Norfolk chapter of the American Cancer Society, Dianne Ricks has developed the fund raisers to become the largest boating events of the season with more than 200 sail and power boats participating in 1999; and
WHEREAS, under Dianne Ricks' leadership, the Little Creek Cup Regatta and the Southern Chesapeake Poker Run raised $78,000 in 1999 for the fight against cancer; and
WHEREAS, the revenue collected in support of the American Cancer Society in Hampton Roads has doubled each year since the beginning of these events; and
WHEREAS, Dianne Ricks' memory of her father, Dick Schrader, inspired the Little Creek Cup Regatta and the Southern Chesapeake Poker Run, the only boating events sanctioned by the American Cancer Society; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly commend Dianne Ricks for her tremendous annual efforts to coordinate the Little Creek Cup Regatta and the Southern Chesapeake Poker Run on behalf of the American Cancer Society; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Dianne Ricks for her volunteer work.
