WHEREAS, Edward H. “Pete” Dooley of Vinton has been a dedicated and effective member of the Stewartsville-Chamblissburg Volunteer Fire Company for more than 40 years; and

WHEREAS, a native of Bedford and married for 47 years to the former Betty Ann Wright, Pete Dooley retired as office manager of the Rainbo Bakery following 40 years of faithful service; and

WHEREAS, Pete Dooley is the only active charter member of the Stewartsville-Chamblissburg Volunteer Fire Company and was instrumental in its organization and founding in 1959; and

WHEREAS, Pete Dooley has served as treasurer of the Stewartsville-Chamblissburg Volunteer Fire Company since 1985; and

WHEREAS, Pete Dooley’s exemplary service to the Stewartsville-Chamblissburg Volunteer Fire Company and his sustained dedication to the safety of his fellow citizens stand as shining examples of community service; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly commend Edward H. “Pete” Dooley on his many years of dedicated service to the citizens of Bedford County; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Edward H. “Pete” Dooley as an expression of the General Assembly’s appreciation for his 40-year career with the Stewartsville-Chamblissburg Volunteer Fire Company.
