WHEREAS, Shenandoah University marks two significant milestones during the year 2000: the 125th anniversary of its founding and the 40th anniversary of its relocation to Winchester; and

WHEREAS, established in 1875 in Dayton, Virginia, Shenandoah University has experienced remarkable growth over its 125-year history, especially since its move to Winchester in 1960; and

WHEREAS, now a comprehensive Level V accredited university, Shenandoah University offers its students a wide range of undergraduate, graduate, and professional programs; and

WHEREAS, Shenandoah University’s 60 degree programs are grouped into the schools of arts and sciences, business, pharmacy, health professions, and the Shenandoah Conservatory; and

WHEREAS, an innovative, forward-thinking institution, Shenandoah University seeks to meet the needs of its students by investing its resources in teaching excellence; and

WHEREAS, as its many successful graduates can attest, Shenandoah University provides its students with the solid educational foundation so important to a prosperous and rewarding career; and

WHEREAS, the faculty, staff, administration, and students of Shenandoah University can reflect on a 125-year history of growth and innovation and anticipate a promising future of continued excellence; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly commend and congratulate Shenandoah University on the occasion of its 125th anniversary; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to President James A. Davis in honor of Shenandoah University’s record of outstanding service to its students, the Winchester community, and the Commonwealth.
