2000 SESSION
WHEREAS, the 1999 Frank W. Cox High School girls’ volleyball team won the Virginia High School League Group AAA state volleyball championship; and
WHEREAS, the Falcons from Cox High School in Virginia Beach finished with a perfect record of 28 - 0 and captured the school’s second state championship in the past four years; and
WHEREAS, Cox High School won the Beach District regular season championship by finishing undefeated, then swept the Beach District, Eastern Region, and Virginia High School League Group AAA state tournaments; and
WHEREAS, led by Volleyball All-American Katie Gilman, the Falcons volleyball team won 63 of a possible 67 games in its regular season and tournament matches; and
WHEREAS, in winning the state title, the Falcons dominated their opponents in all phases of the game, a tribute to the talent and hard work of the players and the leadership of Head Coach Claire LeBlanc; and
WHEREAS, the Frank W. Cox High School girls’ volleyball team has established an enviable record of consistent excellence and should remain a force in state volleyball championships for years to come; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly salute the girls’ volleyball team from Frank W. Cox High School on its outstanding 1999 season; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Head Coach Claire LeBlanc as an expression of the General Assembly’s congratulations to the champions from Frank W. Cox High School.
