Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. That § 32.1-323.1 of the Code of Virginia is amended and reenacted as follows:

§ 32.1-323.1. (Effective until July 1, 2004) Department to submit forecast of expenditures.

By November 15 1 of each year, the Department of Medical Assistance Services, in cooperation with the Department of Planning and Budget and the Joint Legislative Audit and Review Commission, shall prepare and submit an estimate of Medicaid expenditures for the current year and a forecast of such expenditures for the next two years to the House Committees on Appropriations and Health, Welfare and Institutions and to the Senate Committees on Finance and Education and Health. This section shall expire on July 1, 2004.
