Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. That the Code of Virginia is amended by adding in Article 3 of Chapter 2 of Title 4.1, a section numbered 4.1-240, as follows:

§ 4.1-240. Collection of taxes and fees by credit or debit card; service charge.

The Board may accept in payment for the taxes, penalties or other fees imposed on a licensee in accordance with this title a credit or debit card. In addition, the Board may assess a service charge, not to exceed four percent of the amount of the tax, penalty or other fee imposed, for the use of a credit or debit card. The service charge shall not exceed the actual amount charged the Department by the credit or debit card company.
