006042732Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. That the Code of Virginia is amended by adding a section numbered 1-13.5:2 as follows:
§ 1-13.5:2. Disability; developmental disability.
As used in this code to define conditions that may enable individuals to be eligible, when other eligibility criteria are satisfied, for appropriate care, education or other human services that are provided for similarly disabled persons, the terms "disability" or "disabilities" and "developmental disability" or "developmental disabilities" shall include Prader-Willi syndrome.
"Prader-Willi syndrome" means a specific disorder that is usually caused by a chromosomal change, resulting in life-long functional and cognitive impairments and life-threatening obesity.
