2000 SESSION
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. That § 14.06 of Chapter 227 of the Acts of Assembly of 1954 is amended and reenacted as follows:
§ 14.06. Vacancies in Constitutional Offices.
Vacancies in the offices of treasurer, and commissioner of the revenue, and
city sergeant shall be filled by the council for the unexpired portion of the
term of office in accordance with Article 6 (§ 24.2-225 et seq.) of Chapter 2
of Title 24.2 of the Code of Virginia, 1950, as amended. Vacancies in the
offices of the clerk of the circuit court, sheriff and the attorney for the Commonwealth shall be filled by the
Circuit Court, or the judge thereof in vacation, in accordance with the
provisions of general laws.
