CHAPTER 715 An Act to amend and reenact § 23-9.2:5 of the Code of Virginia, relating to student representatives to boards of visitors. [H 821] Approved April 8, 2000

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. That § 23-9.2:5 of the Code of Virginia is amended and reenacted as follows:

§ 23-9.2:5. Student representatives to boards of visitors.

A. The board of visitors of any four-year state institution of higher education may shall appoint one or more students as nonvoting, advisory student representatives to the board. Such student representatives shall be appointed under such circumstances and serve for such terms as the board of visitors of the institution shall prescribe.

B. Nothing in this section shall prohibit any board of visitors from excluding the nonvoting student representative such representatives from discussions of faculty grievances, faculty or staff disciplinary matters or salaries or other matters at the discretion of the board.
