CHAPTER 275 An Act to amend and reenact § 2.1-177 of the Code of Virginia, relating to the State Treasurer; appointment. [S 238] Approved April 3, 2000

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. That § 2.1-177 of the Code of Virginia is amended and reenacted as follows:

§ 2.1-177. Department of the Treasury; State Treasurer.

The Department of the Treasury is continued with the same powers, functions and duties as existed immediately prior to noon of July 1, 1971. The State Treasurer shall be in direct charge of the Department of the Treasury. The State Treasurer shall be appointed by the Governor, subject to confirmation by the General Assembly, for a term coincident with that of the Governor making the appointment, or until a successor is appointed and qualified.
